VCD
Overview
Cloud Avenue offering is based on vCloud Director software.
vCloud Director provides privatisation of resources to each tenant of the platform, so that each customer can have a dedicated logical environment in which to deploy their infrastructure.
vCD provides virtual DataCenters (vDC), i.e. pools of resources (GHz, RAM and storage) in which customers can create a customised environment adapted to each information system.

Versions
La version en cours de vCD est la 10.4.2.22399504.
Prerequisites
Principle
In vCloud vocabulary, a Tenant is also called an Organization.
The Organization's Super Administrator is also known as Org Admin has full rights over the organisation. He has the role Organization Administrator.
This is the technical Referent Account declared in the contract from the Selfcare Portal, which also has all the rights to this Cloud Customer Space.
From the Selfcare Area, the referent will create and modify virtual DataCenter (vDC) resources, which are the resource pools used by the Virtual Machines (VMs).
Org Admin users can create several vDCs to meet different needs.
VDCs are created from the Customer Area, as are resource quotas (vCPU, GHz, RAM, storage)....
Technical Architecture
In the vCloud Director architecture, it is the vSphere layer that manages the hardware:
vCloud Director organises its resources in the form of vDC Providers. These PvDCs will be set up to supply resources to the vDCs according to the different classes of services made available in the service catalogue. |
Acces
Access to the vCloud Director Portal can be done from Internet or from the customer's BVPN network, if one exists.
SSO
The Identity Management is used in the Selfcare portal, so it's also possible to acces to the vCD Portal from it. This means that each account created in the Cloud Customer Area automatically has SSO access to the vCD Portal.
This secures access to the vCD portal and centralises Account management on the Portal.
Local Account
The Customer can also create Local Accounts from the vDC portal. In particular, a local account is required to use the network storage management portal or to use the APIs.
We recommend that you configure passwords in a secure way (special characters, upper case, lower case...)
The configuration of Password Security is the responsibility of the Customer's Administrators.
