Change Stockage

Overview

You can change the Storage type of a VM disk on the fly.

You can associate a different storage policy with each disk.

Prerequisites

• VM Access

Please note!
The "VM default policy" corresponds to the Storage Policy defined when the VM was deployed.

How to visualize the Default Storage Policy From DETAILS>Général>Storage Policy.

Modify the Policy from a Disk

Thanks to Storage VMotion, it's possible to perform hot migrations of Storage Policies with the VM Powered On. From DETAILS>Hardware>Hard Disks>EDIT.

Le disque (fichier vmdk) sera déplacé sur un Datastore de la Statégie de Stockage sélectionné.

Modify the Storage Policy

A VM's Default Storage type can be changed on the fly. From the DETAILS>VM>General>EDIT>Storage Policy. The VDC must have the desired storage strategy.

All the files in the VM Folder will be moved to a Datastore applying the new Storage Policy SILVER, GOLD or PLATINIUM.
