Overview

For performance reasons, for example, you can create an Affinity Rule, the DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler) will then keep the VMs on the same ESXi host.
Otherwise, with an Anti-Affinity Rule, the DRS will maintain VMs on different ESXi in order, for example, to prevent a VM access failure if an ESXi goes down.

Prerequisites

Affinity Rule

From Data Centers > Affinity Rules > NEW

Define :
  • A Name
  • Tick the cases Enabled and Required
  • Select the VMs and SAVE.

The VMs will be on the same ESXi Cluster.

Anti-Affinity Rule


Define :

  • A Name
  • Tick the cases Enabled and Required
  • Select the VMs and SAVE.

You can Modify or Delete the rules with the buttons Modifier.jpg or Supprimer.jpg
