Overview

The backup offered on Cloud Avenue is based on the solution NetBackup '9.1 + the portal NSS (NetBackup Self Service). This solution is implemented at the infrastructure level and directly drives the vCenter to make backups via vmware snapshot at the ESXi level.

The solution provided as standard is shared for all customers of the platform.

The solution works without the need to install an agent into the VMs.

Please note!
Backups are systematically encrypted for all customers.

Operation

The Customer, via the NSS portal interface, or via the NSS plugin present in the vCD portal, will apply basic and pre-defined backup policies, in order to build its own complex policy.

The backup execution window is between 06:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m..

Personalize your own backup plan

To an object in NSS (a vDC, a vApp or a VM), the Customer can assign one or more basic policies, so as to customize their own backup plan.

Attention !
NSS makes a "full" backup with each backup, based on the useful data of each VM. A 100 GB disk that is 50% full will produce a 50 GB backup image.

Restore

It is possible to restore, without using an agent installed in the VM:

• the whole VM, next to the original VM
• the whole VM, instead of the original VM
• part of the files of a VM (files or a tree structure).

Please note!
Recovery is very fast because NSS stores backups as a full image ready for recovery.

Billing

Billing is based on several elements:

• the number of VMs backed up (protected)
• the size of these VMs
• the size of the backup space consumed to store the Customer's backup sets.
